Can I use GMSL2 cameras with the NVIDIA® Jetson AGX Thor™ Developer Kit?
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Why the Developer Kit does not support GMSL2 cameras
The GMSL2 cameras (ZED X, ZED X Mini, ZED X Nano, ZED X One GS, ZED X One S, and ZED X One 4K) are connected to an NVIDIA® Jetson™ module through a GMSL2 deserializer, such as the ZED Link capture cards, which is plugged into a CSI/MIPI camera port of the carrier board.
The official carrier board of the NVIDIA® Jetson AGX Thor™ Developer Kit does not provide CSI/MIPI camera ports, so the ZED Link GMSL2 capture cards cannot be connected to it. For this reason, the GMSL2 cameras cannot be used with the Developer Kit.
The following StereoLabs cameras can be used with the Jetson AGX Thor™ Developer Kit:
ZED X One Core (MIPI): up to 2 ZED X One Core cameras at 1920x1200 @ 60 FPS, connected to a ZED Link MIPI Quad capture card, which is connected to the NVIDIA® Holoscan Sensor Bridge; the Sensor Bridge streams the images to the Developer Kit over 10 Gb Ethernet (QSFP+). See the Jetson AGX Thor Devkit Setup guide.
The alternative: ZED Box 2 Max
To use the GMSL2 cameras with NVIDIA® Jetson Thor™, we recommend the ZED Box 2 Max, our embedded AI computer built on the NVIDIA® Jetson AGX Thor™ modules, with 8 GMSL2 camera inputs and the ZED SDK preinstalled. It is available in two versions:
ZED Box 2 Max - T4000: Jetson AGX Thor™ T4000, 64 GB memory, up to 1200 FP4 TFLOPS.
ZED Box 2 Max - T5000: Jetson AGX Thor™ T5000, 128 GB memory, up to 2070 FP4 TFLOPS.
Main features:
8x GMSL2 inputs (FAKRA Z) with hardware synchronization, compatible with all the GMSL2 cameras listed above. You can connect:
up to 8 stereo cameras at HD1200 @ 30 FPS, or 4 stereo cameras at HD1200 @ 60 FPS;
up to 8 monocular cameras at HD1200 @ 60 FPS;
up to 6 ZED X One 4K cameras at 4K @ 15 FPS.
Robot-ready I/O: QSFP+ (up to 40 GbE), 2x GbE, optional 4x GbE PoE+, 4x CAN FD, 4G/5G (2 SIM slots), Wi-Fi 6, optional RTK GNSS.
Industrial design: actively cooled aluminum enclosure, 9 V to 36 V DC wide-range power input, operating temperature from -25°C to +50°C.
Ready to use: NVIDIA® JetPack and the ZED SDK are preinstalled.
Availability: the ZED Box 2 Max without GPS ships at the end of November 2026; the version with GPS ships at the end of December 2026.
For the full specifications and a comparison with the other ZED Box models, see the ZED Box 2 Series page. For multi-camera perception with lower power consumption, the ZED Box 2 (NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ NX) provides the same 8 GMSL2 inputs.
Carrier boards with GMSL2 deserializers for the Jetson AGX Thor™ modules are also available from our partners.
