Why doesn't the ZED SDK detect my ZED X One?
Last updated: October 22, 2026
The ZED X One is a monocular GMSL2 camera. Since a single camera cannot provide stereo depth, it is not opened by the sl::Camera class used for stereo cameras, nor by the ZED SDK tools designed for stereo cameras (e.g. ZED Depth Viewer).
Using a single ZED X One
A single ZED X One is supported by the ZED SDK through the dedicated sl::CameraOne class, which provides image capture, camera controls, sensor data, SVO recording, and streaming. See the ZED X One documentation for the available features and code samples.
Using two ZED X One as a stereo camera
Two ZED X One cameras can be combined into a calibrated Virtual Stereo camera. In this configuration, the pair is opened with sl::Camera like any other ZED stereo camera, and all the depth-based modules (depth sensing, positional tracking, spatial mapping, object detection, body tracking) are available. See the Dual camera stereo vision guide and Setting up your Stereo Rig with two ZED X One cameras.
The camera is still not detected
If the camera is not detected at all (for example, it is not listed by ZED_Explorer --all), check that the ZED X Driver is installed and restart the daemon with sudo systemctl restart zed_x_daemon. If the problem persists, follow this procedure and send the diagnostic file and kernel logs to support@stereolabs.com.
