It is possible to connect up to 4 ZED cameras on a single computer. We recommend using USB3.0 expansion cards for optimal performance. For sample code, check out our GitHub page here.
To use the ZED SDK with up to four cameras, the host platform must be running Linux Ubuntu. We recommend using Geforce 700 series or above when building an application with 3 or more ZED cameras.
- USB bandwidth: The ZED in 1080p30 mode generates around 250MB/s of image data. USB 3.0 maximum bandwidth is around 400MB/s, so the number of cameras, resolutions and framerates you can use on a single machine will be limited by the USB 3.0 controller on the motherboard. When bandwidth limit is exceeded, corrupted frames (green or purple frames, tearing) can appear.
- Add-on cards: To use multiple ZED at full speed on a single computer, we recommend adding USB3.0 PCIe expansion cards such as Inateck 3.0 PCI-E Expansion Cards KTU3FR-4P.
